Design Series
There are several distinct WFG design series in Art Prints and some Other Products. The first, most extensive, and ongoing is Stylized Flowers and Vegetables (SF; SV)—which adapts a traditional botanical “sampler” template with text and image. The overall series aesthetic takes off on several nineteenth and early twentieth-century design trends, with added realist details and modern, rich color. While the Stylized series have been generally collaborative over time, main designers of specific illustrations are noted on product details in ordering sections as “L(ynne) & R(ichie)” or “J(ody) & R(ichie).”
Lynne Bittner conceived of several additional design series that continue to be available in varied formats. These include Year in Flowers (YIF), which makes folkloric connections between months of the year and specific flowers and is inspired directly by Arts & Crafts Movement design; Botanical Herbals (BH), which takes a more traditional illustrative form, and the Delft Tile series (DT), inspired by historical Delft ceramics.
